Chea Phirom, a 45-year-old a vendor and active social media user from Puok District, Siem Reap province, was arrested on 30 April 2026 and later charged with incitement to disturb social security under Articles 494 and 495 of the Criminal Code on 4 May 2026. His arrest and charges came after he expressed opinions on the Cambodian–Thai border conflict on his personal Facebook account.

Phirom was arrested at his stall outside his home by plainclothes officers from Puok District Police and commune-level authorities, after he had left his house to make them coffee, thinking they were customers. He was subsequently sent to Puok District Police Inspectorate before being transferred to Siem Reap Provincial Police Headquarters and Siem Reap Court.
